I have a friend in the hospital for 7 weeks. She is in her
mid-30's and has had diabetes since she was in her teens. At this
time her entire digestive track has stopped functioning from
esophagus to colon. She has a tube inserted at the junction of
stomach and intestines which feeds into either. Her doctors cannot
give her any hope...her body may begin to function again, or she
may have to continue with the tube in her side. Although she is
allowed a liquid diet she is reluctant to eat because she general
is not able to keep food down. Because she is becoming depressed
she is now taking amphetamines and antidepressants. If your articles
can provide any help whatsoever which I can forward to her doctors
I would much appreciate a faxed copy (in English would be
most appreciated, if available). Also, I do not know what language
this information is in so would also appreciate this information
if English translation is not availabe so that I may have it
