Ragnar Hanas | Gun Forsander – Conference Presidents, 39th Annual Conference ISPAD

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure and privilege to invite you to attend the 39th annual meeting of ISPAD, to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden October 16-19, 2013. ISPAD has grown significantly, and we are happy to invite not only pediatric diabetologists but also internists, diabetes nurses, dietitians as well as psychologists, social workers and other involved in the care of pediatric diabetes from all parts of the world.

Gothenburg is the second biggest city in Sweden and is situated on the west coast. There are two international airports and there are direct flights connecting Gothenburg from more than 50 European cities.

The ISPAD scientific meeting is always an exciting, special and memorable annual event. We will have plenary sessions, symposia, oral and poster sessions, and workshops addressing the cutting edge science of pediatric diabetes care. The theme of the 2013 meeting will be ”Pediatric Diabetes in a Life-long Perspective”, indicating our ambition to cover important themes from neonatal diabetes to long-term aspects of the disease.

As Sweden has a tradition since decades of high quality national registers of diabetes, we will pay attention to the importance of collecting valid data for outcome measurements and benchmarking to further improve the care of our patients. With high scientific level of the program and nice networking opportunities we intend to offer you an exceptional meeting!

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we look forward to welcoming you to Gothenburg 2013.

Best regards,

Gun Forsander

Gothenburg

Founded in 1621, the City of Gothenburg has a long tradition of national and international commerce, trade, shipping and industry. It is located on Sweden’s west coast, right in the heart of Scandinavia. The greatest harbour in Scandinavia. As such it is a true gateway between the capital cities of Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

The archipelago around Gothenburg on the west coast is the most spectacular in the world with hundreds of islands nearby, a paradise for sailors for summer holidays and fishings. There is an island for everyone free for night harbour or just with an anchor a bit from the coast.

Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden,  and with its universities it is a centre of academic research and education. The city is well-known for hosting a wide range of multinational meetings as well as conferences and is also referred to as ”The Event City”.

Its pleasant atmosphere, top facilities and spectacular natural surroundings make Gothenburg one of the top, leading event cities in Europe. Gothenburg is a beautiful coastal city, is bursting with cultural diversity and is the perfect location to host the 39th Annual Conference of ISPAD.
